Data Analytics Tool Design for The Globe and Mail

I am a graduate research assistant at the Visual Analytics Lab at OCAD University, and as part of a team designed this interactive data visualization tool for The Globe and Mail, Canada’s largest national daily newspaper. The Globe and Mail is ultimately trying to understand the data collected from their readers in order to create more effective advertising, as well as to see the impact of certain taste correlations. “Taste” is a term used to describe the result of an analysis of several large datasets, which essentially indicates the preferences of certain groups of readers, in terms of what types of articles they are most usually drawn to. One of our biggest challenges was showing this complex data in a way that was meaningful, and effective.
